Matrix Gardens' Designers, Leads and Office Staff.
Alison Peck, Principal
Alison founded Matrix Gardens in 1984, creating a landscape design/build company devoted to landscapes which benefit the Earth; producing food and habitat instead of consuming water and chemicals. A pioneer in xeriscapes/water conserving landscaping, she has designed a wide variety of abundant, regenerative landscapes, from homes to subdivisions. Alison has been featured in articles in Sunset Magazine, New York Times and Landscape Architecture and has won several ‘Excellence in Landscape’ awards from the Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado-ALCC. She received the ALCC 2008 ‘Person of the Year’ award for her work researching and promoting sustainable landscaping. She teaches Xeriscaping, Landscape Design, Sustainable Landscaping and Irrigation classes at Front Range Community College and in the Denver area.
Christine Woods, Designer
Chris joined Matrix Gardens in 2008, and has a degree in Horticulture, Landscape Design, and Horticultural Therapy. She has a strong commitment to client-driven and Earth-friendly landscape design, and enjoys collaborating with her clients to create a landscape that satisfies her clients’ needs and goals. She has won several ‘Excellence in Landscape’ awards from the Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado for Sustainability. Chris is a founding member of the Front Range Sustainable Landscaping Coalition, a group which was formed in 2007 to research, educate and promote sustainable landscaping. She sits on the board for the local chapter of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers.
When Chris is not designing she enjoys gardening on her property in Lafayette, hiking, traveling, singing and playing various instruments.
Larry Nygaard, Crew Lead
Larry has designed and installed landscapes for over 25 years. He has extensive experience in all phases of landscape installation from site preparation -including careful preservation of moving of existing shrubs and trees- to a wide variety of masonry, irrigation and planting projects. He has also worked in ecological restoration, leading volunteer crews for Boulder’s Wildland Restoration Volunteers. He has a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. Larry is a knowledgeable plant person, with extensive experience growing many native and well-adapted plants.
Lynn, Matt and Jennifer make up our office team, as Plant coordinator, Estimator, and Bookkeeper respectively. Lynn procures and takes care of the plants, making sure orders and deliveries are up to spec. She’s had a love for plants all of her life. Matt uses his love of plants and mathematics to craft accurate estimates and construction documents for our installation team. He’s been interested in landscaping since he was “knee-high to a grasshopper.” Jennifer, born and raised here in Boulder, has worked for Matrix for over 20 years. She always adds a touch of humor to the number-crunching! They make sure the plants are healthy, the jobs come in as estimated and that the employees are happy.
Carly Harrison, Cultivation Lead
Carly's passion for plants and the natural world began as a young child but truly blossomed when she moved to Colorado from New England to attend an Herbal Medicine certification program. She enjoys the mountain lifestyle, residing outside of Nederland with her furry four-legged companion, Ella Bear.
